Van fire in Upper Halliford - Information needed.

A white convoy panel van was set alight in Upper Halliford on Tuesday 18th Nov - Police suspect arson.

Damage to the vehicle was extensive after the emergency services were called at approx 17:45 - Anyone with information regarding this matter is urged to call Surrey Police (0845 125 2222) quoting ref: SL/08/6966

Students from Halliford school jet off to Ethiopia

Students from a Shepperton school jetted off to Ethiopia to visit their twin school and meet pupils they had fundraised for.

The group of 12 teenagers from Halliford School travelled to Ediget Feleg General Secondary School in Gondar and helped paint a computer room they raised £3,000 to revamp. History teacher Michael Graham, who organised the trip for the group of 15 to 18-year-olds, said: “This trip was a real eye opener for the students. I think first and foremost they were amazed at the difference in terms of how much we have and how little the students have.

Shepperton Studios Group Scales Back Expansion

Shepperton Studios' grand plan to effectively double its size at a cost of nearly £750 million is being scaled back, a company director said.

New Walton Bridge by 2012?

Surrey county council have issued three statutory orders for the new Walton Bridge which will see construction starting in Feb 2010 with completion scheduled for 2012.

Copies of the orders (which include a compulsory purchase order) and documentation will be made available at Shepperton Library.

Shepperton Connect Foundation Charity Shop Fire

Charity workers in Shepperton have been left devastated after arsonists struck and destroyed their store.

Volunteers at Connect Foundation For Mental Health in Shepperton High Street discovered the blaze in the early hours of Monday morning after residents contacted the fire service.

Burning boats put homes at risk

Two burning boats blocked a Shepperton weir, putting nearby homes at risk of flooding early this morning.

Shepperton Weir lock keeper Steve Newman spotted the two boats in flames about 4.30am. Mr Newman had been woken by a rising water alarm, sounded when the two vessels became trapped in Weir A.
